Defender Lucas Digne believes he has moved to “the best league in the world” after swapping Barcelona for Premier League outfit Everton.
The Frenchman made the switch to Barcelona from Paris Saint-Germain two years ago but was unable to really establish himself as a regular at Camp Nou, managing just 29 La Liga outings in his two seasons with the Catalan giants.
Digne is delighted to have now secured a move to England and is eager to make his mark in the Premier League.
“Everton is a big club with a great history. I want to play games, win games and excite the fans with the quality of our football,” said Digne.
“I want to show my best football here and discover the best league in the world. Everybody loves the Premier League. I am loving the fact I am coming here.”
“I am not afraid, I am excited. For me, it is a new challenge to discover a country, a league, people and a great club such as Everton. It is fabulous.”
Digne becomes Marco Silva’s second signing of the summer after the new Everton boss raided former club Watford for Richarlison earlier in the transfer window.
The Goodison Park outfit are expected to make further signings before the transfer window slams shut, while they may also face a battle to keep hold of keeper Jordan Pickford, who has been linked with Chelsea as a possible replacement for Real Madrid target Thibaut Courtois.
